[ About glass for tub ]
What goes into a glass for tub project.
Glass for a tub-shower combination is its own discipline: the enclosure has to clear the tub deck, work around the faucet and valve plumbing, and seal against a surface that was never meant to be a shower curb. We build pivot doors, sliders, fixed panels and full enclosures for tub applications, each measured to the specific deck height and the specific reach of the spout so the glass doesn't foul the hardware. Frameless and semi-frameless are both on the table — semi-frameless can be the smarter call over an out-of-level tub rim, where a slim top rail absorbs variation the way exposed glass cannot. Glass is tempered throughout, ⅜″ for most frameless configurations and ¼″ where a lighter framed or semi-frameless panel suits the deck, in clear or Starphire low-iron. The practical questions are whether the tub rim is level, how the door or panel clears the filler and handles, and whether the wall can carry a pivot's hinge load. Because tub decks vary so much, we template on site rather than trust a nominal size, then fabricate at the Carrollton shop. This is bread-and-butter work in older homes across Richardson, Fort Worth and Denton, where a dated framed tub door is swapped for a clean glass panel that modernises the bath without a full gut remodel.
