[ About furniture tops ]
What goes into a furniture tops project.
A custom glass furniture top protects a surface and, on the right piece, becomes part of the design — a tempered sheet over a wood table, a stone console, a dresser or a desk. We cut from ¼″ standard up to ¾″, the thicker specs giving a substantial, freestanding presence on a dining or conference table where the glass is the surface rather than a protector. Edges are polished, hand-honed or sanded, and the glass can be hand-cut to a curved or shaped profile to follow the furniture beneath it exactly. Finishes run clear and aquatex, a textured glass that diffuses light and hides fingerprints. Where a top will live outdoors — a patio table or an outdoor kitchen — we temper for thermal safety and weather. For a buyer the considerations are the thickness that suits the span and use, whether the edge should read as jewellery or disappear, and whether clear or textured better fits the piece. We template the actual furniture, including any curve, rather than trust a stated dimension, then fabricate at the Carrollton shop. Bumpers keep the glass from sliding and lift it just off the surface so both the glass and the wood breathe. Furniture tops are a versatile piece of our residential and outdoor work across Arlington, Fort Worth and Allen, indoors and out.
